This Stealth Hitches trailer hitch includes everything you need to hook up your trailer for towing. The ball mount pops into the hitch's center block so you can attach your trailer's coupler to the hitch ball. The wiring harness lets you power your trailer's lights. And the safety chain loops let you attach your trailer's safety chains. A receiver attachment is included as well for those times you need to use a bike rack or cargo carrier instead of towing your trailer. This all-in-1 solution saves you the headache of scrambling for missing parts, so you can get on the road faster than ever.
Nothing can ruin the clean, stylish look of your vehicle like a giant piece of metal bolted beneath the bumper. Luckily, with the Stealth Hitches trailer hitch receiver, you never have to worry about messing up your vehicle's lines.
This hitch installs behind your bumper, keeping the cross tube concealed and leaving only the ball mount visible. Even better, the ball mount can be easily removed from the cross tube when it's not in use, so you won't see any trace of the hitch. This means that you can retain that clean, from-the-factory look for your ride, while still being able to tow your trailer on the next family road trip.
This hitch also comes with a removable 2" square receiver, which can be used to mount any variety of hitch accessories, like your bike rack or cargo carrier.
Both the ball mount attachment and receiver attachment can be installed and removed in seconds with no tools required. Simply pop the selected attachment's base up into the stainless steel block at the center of the hitch until it automatically latches in place.
Be sure to then press the lock on the side of the block to fully secure the attachment. When you're finished hauling, use the included key to unlock the latch. Then turn the handle on the block clockwise and remove the attachment. You can stow the attachments in a safe place like your vehicle's rear cargo area, or you can use a convenient carrying case (391CASEC - sold separately).
And when you're not using an attachment, the included hitch plug covers the center block's opening to protect the hitch's body from dirt and debris.
The included wiring splices into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, on the driver's and passenger's side. Once you've made all of the necessary connections, insert the provided fuse into the in-line fuse holder.
Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will mount beneath your hitch. A mounting bracket is included to attach the connector to your hitch.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-way connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

This is a high quality hitch and towing kit. Everything is heavy duty and the parts are all quality made.
I’m 71 and did this install myself. I used to have a pickup, to tow my bass tracker, but upgraded my tow vehicle to a BMW X5.
One thing you might want to consider adding to the instructions (which are very good) is a picture (see pic) of the body snaps/clips where the rear facia is held to the body on each side of rear hatch door.
Great Towing solution for my BMW X5 4.0 M series. Definitley an involved installation but with the careful instructions and super helpful videos, everything was well explained. Took me the better part of 4 hours total by myself... Looks great (or doesn't since its hidden) & works perfectly. Love it!

Well engineered and built - with one exception. The safety chain loops are ridiculously small. While they will (most likely) accommodate the S hooks on a safety chain, it is impossible to get a bike security cable through them. For that reason I am knocking off one star.
The installation video online was excellent. Its a challenging install on a X5 but myself and my 12 year old did it. When the hitch is not in its impossible to see the mount and it does not interfere with the tailgate sensor. BMW wanted $x,xxx to install and take 2 weeks, we got it done!

1 year later and the hitch and trailer brake have worked flawlessly!
The Stealth hitch looks great on my SUV. The install was more challenging than the install video indicated but it was complete and went as expected.
I’m not a reviewer by any means but I’ll take my time to write this one. I have nothing but good things to say about this towing kit. It was the first hitch I ever installed. I followed the instructions and the instructional video closely. Combination of the two was the only way I could’ve done it correctly. The only complaint I have is that neither paper nor the video have the instructions how to put everything back together. It’s only says to follow the instructions in reverse order which is not very helpful. I numbered all the screws and parts with the paper instruction step number so I was able to follow it in reverse. It took me about 8 hours, with breaks, from start to finish. I’m not a mechanic and I did it on my garage floor with a lot of borrowed tools. (although I’m pretty handy and have repaired small engines before) The main reason why I took on this install was that the mechanic I had appointment with told me it will take him double the time (there fire double the price) that he originally thought and he didn’t have time to do it on Saturday when I had the appointment. I was so mad I decided to do this myself.
As for the product itself, all the parts look solid and sturdy. The hitch works well, you can not see any part of it when the ball is removed. I towed my trailer many times now, all works as it should. The only small downside is the installation of the ball to the receiver, You have to get down on your knees to do that. (I carry soft foam bleacher seat in the trunk to kneel on)
Overall I’m very pleased with this towing kit.
I was concerned that I couldn't find a suitable hitch for my BMW X5 hybrid. It was very new and I thought the electric drive might make a hitch too complicated. Fortunately, I found on here on etrailer and I was assured it would work. I received it promptly and reviewed the installation instructions. They seemed a little more than I was willing to tackle so I contacted etrailer and they found someone within a mile who could install it. The installation went smoothly and aside from a misunderstanding of how the key was used to install the hitch, it's been working great ever since. I'm very please how it all turned out. Having a hitch adds greater capability for the car.

It has been functioning as it should, no problems. Have used it extensively for carrying bicycles and occasionally for hauling stuff with a trailer. Life would be much tougher without it.
Used this to carry a Kuat rack and 4 bikes (one e-bike) on a road trip from Alabama to Utah and back over three weeks. No issues. It is a very stressful install as a lot has to be removed, but instructions and [online] were fairly straight forward.
Appreciate being asked for a rating one year after which gives time to actually use product. I was Leary it would not fit however it fit just fine. Wife and I installed in one afternoon. Looks complex but if you look beyond all that is behind the panels and focus on the install... it is straight forward. I did trim a bit more on the underside to make access easier and you cant see it. I also placed the fuse and electronics where it could be accessed later (if need be). I tow allot and it works perfectly fine for all my needs. Happy towing!
Love my hitch receiver. Tow's my travel trailer like a champ. Also, I Needed a replacement part and the company swapped out the part free of charge.

The hitch itself is great and accomplishes exactly what I was after - a useful hitch that is not visible at all when not in use! I found installation of the hitch to be very simple and straight foward. The instructions were detailed and spot on. Had an issue getting the wiring harness set up correctly, but etrailer CSR talked me through what I had done and quickly helped me resolve my issue! And on top of all of that they had the best price on the internet. Could not be happier.
Hi the hitch is very robust and easy to use. I'm quite happy with it except for the issue with the wiring bracket place versus where it should mount according to vehicle manufacturer's cutout. This does not affect the operation of the hitch but I had to cut the other side of the plate to make it fit with the wiring bracket (as I reported when purchased).
This hitch kit is well built, quality. I love the fact that it is hidden when not in use. The installation instructions and video are very helpful. The quick release hitch receiver works flawlessly. The grade of steel and welds are excellent. This is an American made product and was designed and built to last. Very happy with this purchase.
I bought this trailer to install on my 2022 BMW X5. It was installed by a recommended dealer, they did a fantastic job. I would recommend having it professionally installed after witnessing the installation.

The hitch is 5 out of 5. Degree of difficulty to install - you better have an expert. The only thing we didn’t like was all the wiring. It was some confusing - even with a CSE certified guy installing - it was overwhelming.
Added this to my 2021 BMW X5. This enabled me to be able to have the foot movement tailgate release option and a towing package…. Something that’s not an available option from BMW. If you order the vehicle with the towing package you loose the foot release option.
This unit is awesome. Definitely a challenging install but YouTube video was very helpful. When hitch is off you can’t tell vehicle has hitch all. If I wanted to be picky, foot kick hatch opener doesn’t work when hitch is installed

Great company to work with and great product. Very difficult to install if you have no mechanical background. Although it may be easier on something other than a 2022 Bmw x5.
The hitch is pretty great - super solid and well made. It came delivered well packaged and with no blemishes. It really is a 10 on the difficulty installation scale but the video on etrailer makes it possible.
